Arts Writers & Circus Arts vol. II – Focus on Circus Bodies

European residency for young critics, cultural journalists and editors of arts magazines.

In partnership with Circostrada Network (European platform for information, research and professional exchange within the circus and street arts), Finnish Circus Information Centre will be organising a European residency for young critics, cultural journalists and editors of arts magazines, and performing arts researchers and students in order to:

1. Introduce them to the aesthetics of the contemporary circus;

2. Allow them to attend a series of performances;

3. Schedule encounters with artists;

4. Expose them to a series of thematic discussions on the circus arts;

5. Provide th enecessary conditions for a deep reflection on the creative and innovative aspects of the circus within the realm of the performming arts and contemporary creation.

The seminar guest speakers include circus researcher Jean-Michel Guy (France), professor Peta Tait (La Trobe University, Australia), circus researcher Camilla Damkjær (Stockholm University) and circus festival director Ivan Kralj (Croatia), who will act as seminar moderator.

As part of this residency, some particiants will be commissioned to produce one article so that they may deepen their reflection on the circus arts. These critical articles (1.500 to 1.800 words each) will then be turned into an online publication avalible in several languages (each article in its original language and en English translation) from www.circostrada.org.
